What's pending
Package 1 (Tumkur Road–Bellary Road, 19.80 km, ~₹3,348 cr estimated) drew bids from two firms — Shankara Narayana Constructions and Vishwa Samudra Engineering — on 2026-05-08, but award finalisation was still pending as of 2026-08-26. This is BDA's third attempt at tendering the project: the first two rounds drew no response over unresolved farmer land-compensation terms. Underlying land acquisition has a long history of moving very slowly: a Supreme Court order of 2021-10-26 recorded that only 3 acres 21 guntas of the 1,810 acres 18.5 guntas notified for PRR Part 1 had actually been taken possession of at that point (0.19%), before the Court directed the state and BDA to proceed.
History
- Stalled
Supreme Court order recorded that of the 1,810 acres 18.5 guntas notified for PRR Part 1, only 3 acres 21 guntas had actually been taken possession of; the Court directed the state government to hand over notified government land to BDA and directed BDA to simultaneously pass awards and take possession of notified land. [1]
- Sanctioned
Karnataka Cabinet approved the Peripheral Ring Road project at an estimated cost of ₹21,091 crore under a 50-year build-operate-transfer concession. [2]
- sanctioned
₹21,091 cr whole project [2]
Funder: private · FY 2021-22
Context
Karnataka Cabinet approval for the full project under a PPP-BOT model; land acquisition alone (over ₹15,000 cr of this total) was to be funded upfront by the concessionaire per this reporting
- announced
₹27,000 cr whole project [3]
Funder: state · FY 2025-26
Context
Public-Private Partnership (DBFOT) model — land acquisition (reported separately at roughly ₹21,000 cr) is state-funded, construction is financed by the concessionaire against toll revenue; the funding split behind this ₹27,000 cr total figure is not fully confirmed from a primary document
- Bid received
Two firms — Shankara Narayana Constructions and Vishwa Samudra Engineering — submitted bids for Package 1 (Tumkur Road–Bellary Road, 19.80 km, ~₹3,348 cr). [4]
- bid received
₹3,348 cr Part figure: Package 1 only (Tumkur Road–Bellary Road, 19.80 km) [4]
Funder: private · FY 2026-27
Context
Package 1 only (Tumkur Road–Bellary Road, 19.80 km) — not the full corridor; award not yet finalised as of the as_of date
Sanctioned, released and spent are different things: an allocation is not evidence money was spent. Part figures cover one contract, loan or package and are never used as the project's cost.

Notes and caveats
First BDA / roads record on this site. Corporation set to North as a placeholder for Package 1's Tumkur Road–Bellary Road alignment — the full 73.5 km corridor rings the city and touches most corporations; not yet mapped to wards. Originally notified 2007, revived 2022, and rebranded from "Peripheral Ring Road" to "Bengaluru Business Corridor" in 2024–25 — no single clean sanction_date has been located across this history (the 2022-02-09 cabinet approval below is one well-documented milestone, not necessarily "the" sanction), so the field is left blank rather than picking one arbitrarily. Cost history now on file: ₹21,091 cr (cabinet-approved 2022-02-09) → ₹27,000 cr (reported estimate, 2026) → a Deputy CM statement that it would fall to ₹17,000 cr (per an earlier, separately-recorded source) → June 2026 reporting still citing ~₹27,000 cr. These figures conflict and are not reconciled in any primary document found; each is kept on file with its own date rather than collapsed into one number.
